Hootbox: Shut the Box Dice Duel brings the classic dice and number board game to a cozy 3D library. Professor Hoot the owl rolls the dice, and you flip down wooden number tiles that add up to the roll. Roll a 9? Shut the 9, or 5 + 4, or 6 + 2 + 1. Keep going until no tiles can make the total, and the tiles left standing are your score. Shut every tile and you have shut the box!

It is quick to learn, but every roll is a small maths puzzle: which tiles should you keep open so the next roll still works? The 30 levels mix score challenges, three-round runs, best-of-three tries and head-to-head duels against Rusty the fox. The box grows from 9 to 10 and then 12 tiles.

On Easy, playable tiles glow and hints are unlimited. On Hard, Rusty plays with perfect probability strategy, so beating him takes real skill (and a little luck). Great addition practice for kids and a relaxing brain game for adults.

How to Play Hootbox: Shut the Box Dice Duel

Goal: flip down as many number tiles as you can. Your score is the total of the tiles left standing, and lower is better.

1. Roll: press 🎲 Roll (or Space / tap the felt) to throw two dice.
2. Shut tiles: tap/click open tiles whose numbers add up exactly to the roll. When your picks match the total, they flip down. Keys 1–9, 0 (10), - (11) and = (12) also pick tiles.
3. If no open tiles can make the roll, the round ends.
4. One die: once every tile from 7 up is shut, you may switch to rolling a single die.
5. Hint (H) shows the smartest move. Easy: unlimited hints and glowing playable tiles. Medium: 3 hints. Hard: none.
6. Level types: 🎯 score at or below the target, ×3 keep a low total over three rounds, 3🎲 best of three tries, and 🦊 duel, where you beat Rusty's score.
7. 30 levels with 9, 10 and 12-tile boxes. Press P or Esc to pause and 🔊 to mute.
