About Crownhop: Retro Checkers Tour

Grab a seat at the table with Hopper, a tiny crowned frog, in Crownhop: Retro Checkers Tour, a crunchy pixel-art 3D checkers game! Chunky voxel pieces hop in arcs, captured pieces burst into blocky debris and new kings get a shiny crown with a chiptune fanfare. Travel through six themed places, from a lily pond and maple forest to moonlit ruins, a snowy peak, a sunny beach and a neon arcade. At each one you face a new rival: Tilly the Turtle, Felix the Fox, Professor Hoot, Bruno the Bear, Mimi the Cat and the boss, Rook-o-Tron.

The tour has 24 stops: full matches against computer rivals that get smarter as you go, hand-made puzzles (capture everything in one move, crown a king or win in N moves) and fun variants such as a mini 6×6 board, blocked squares, starting with kings and timed blitz. Pick Easy, Medium or Hard, earn up to three stars per stop, or challenge a friend in 2-player mode on the same device. It plays smoothly on desktop and mobile and is free in your browser.

How to Play Crownhop: Retro Checkers Tour

Goal: Win each stop of the tour by capturing every enemy piece or leaving your rival with no legal move. On puzzle stops, reach the goal shown at the top.

  1. Desktop: click one of your red pieces, then click a glowing square. Arrow keys + Enter also work. U = undo, H = hint (Easy), X = deselect, Esc = pause.
  2. Mobile: tap a piece, then tap where it should hop. The board fills the screen width in portrait.
  3. Rules (American checkers): pieces move one square diagonally forward. Jumping over an enemy piece captures it. Jumps are mandatory, and if you can keep jumping you must (tap each landing square). Reach the far row to crown a king, which moves forward and backward.
  4. Levels: 24 stops in 6 places: matches, puzzles (capture all in one move, crown in N, win in N) and variants (6×6 mini board, blocked squares, kings start, timed blitz). Plus a 2-player mode from the menu.
  5. Stars: ★ for winning, ★ for keeping at least half your pieces (puzzles: solving quickly), ★ for not using undo.
  6. Difficulty: Easy has gentle rivals, 5 undos, movable pieces highlighted and a suggested move. Medium has smarter rivals and 2 undos. Hard has sharp rivals and no undo.
