About Foliofox: Evidence Desk
Open a fictional archive and build an argument from its records. Foliofox: Evidence Desk is a 3D history-skills puzzle about provenance, copied accounts and independent corroboration. Inspect short document cards, trace their copying references and file your chosen citations to their original sources before reaching a conclusion under the dossier’s stated exercise policy.
Each packet separates the day described by a record from the day the document was created. A copied account does not become an independent witness because it has another cover or author. If a copying step changes the assertion, its descendants cannot automatically borrow the original account’s evidence. Statements about another event or day must also be kept outside the argument.
Explore 180 dossiers across First Files, Copy Trails and Archive Arguments, with four, five or six cards and two or three declared origins. Submit at least two eligible citations and represent every relevant eligible origin in the whole packet, including both sides of a disagreement. Equivalent faithful original and copy citation sets are accepted.
The conclusions are Corroborated, Contradicted and Insufficient under this fictional dossier policy. They do not claim objective historical certainty or rank truth by source type. Every person, event and record is original fictional training material.
Undo a filing choice, revise the conclusion or request a hint that highlights a possible next step without filing for you. Earn up to three stars per dossier and save your best stars, course position and sound preference on this device when browser storage is available.
How to Play Foliofox: Evidence Desk
Choose First Files (Easy), Copy Trails (Medium) or Archive Arguments (Hard). Each course has 60 dossiers: 20 with each policy conclusion. Easy has four cards and two origins, Medium five cards and three origins, and Hard six cards and three origins.
Read the exact claim and event day. Each dossier explicitly states two mutually exclusive recorded states; exactly one is permitted in that fictional case. Inspect each card’s assertion, event described, document creation day and Copied from reference. Follow D-number references until you reach the original record identified by an O-number origin. Copies do not create additional independent origins.
Select a card and file it to its correct origin, or Leave out if it should not be cited. An eligible citation must match the claim’s exact event and day and preserve the assertion through every copying step. An altered descendant cannot borrow its original’s assertion automatically. A faithful copy of an irrelevant record remains irrelevant.
File at least two eligible citation cards. Your submitted set must represent every eligible relevant origin in the whole packet, including both sides. Several faithful records from one origin still count as one origin. Any equivalent eligible original/copy selection satisfying these requirements is accepted.
Choose a conclusion under the supplied fictional policy: Corroborated requires at least two independent affirming origins and no opposing origin; Contradicted requires at least two opposing origins and no affirming origin; otherwise choose Insufficient, including when relevant origins conflict. The rule considers all eligible relevant origins in the packet, even if you leave a card out. Selecting only favorable records cannot hide a contradiction.
Use Check argument when the citations and conclusion are complete. Undo choice restores a filing or conclusion change. Clear argument leaves every card out and unselects the conclusion, while keeping unsuccessful checks and hint use. Archive hint inspects and highlights a suggested filing or conclusion change without applying it.
Desktop: 1–6 opens an offered document, A–C files it to an offered origin, and 0 leaves the selected card out. Use 7 for Corroborated, 8 for Contradicted and 9 for Insufficient. Enter checks the argument or continues after success when the desk has focus. Z is Undo choice, R is Clear argument, H requests an Archive hint and M toggles sound. Escape closes help. Tab and Enter activate focused controls normally.
Mobile: tap a numbered document on the 3D desk or its document button, read its short record, then tap an origin or Leave out. The 3D origin stands also file the selected card. Choose the conclusion and use the on-screen Check argument, Undo choice, Clear argument, Archive hint and sound controls. All actions use direct buttons and work without form submission.
Three stars require no unsuccessful checks or hints; two stars allow up to two unsuccessful checks and no hints; every completed dossier earns at least one star. Best results are retained on replay.
