At least two document cards must be cited.

A new cover is not a new witness. Faithful copies share their original account’s origin. An altered link breaks the usable copy chain.

CONCLUSION UNDER THE DOSSIER POLICY

What does this archive support?

Use the complete eligible archive.

Two or more affirming origins and no opposing origin → Corroborated. Two or more opposing origins and no affirming origin → Contradicted. Otherwise → Insufficient. Cover every relevant eligible origin on both sides, with at least two cited cards; faithful copies count as one origin.

WELCOME TO THE EVIDENCE DESK

Trace the account.
Then make the argument.

All people, events and documents here are invented. Build a complete argument under this archive’s explicit fictional policy; you are not deciding historical truth from a document’s appearance or type.

  1. 1
    Read every card.

Keep the document’s creation date separate from the event it describes. Compare its claim, scope and copied-from record with the dossier’s event.

  2. 2
File usable cards to their actual origins.

Use the provenance chain to group relevant originals and faithful copies. Leave out altered or irrelevant cards. Cite at least two cards and cover every eligible origin, including opposing accounts.

  3. 3
Choose the conclusion required by the policy.

Faithful copies of one account count as one independent origin. Your conclusion must reflect the whole eligible archive, even if a selected subset tells a simpler story.

EVIDENCE & THE DOSSIER POLICY

Corroboration needs
independent origins.

Historical inquiry compares accounts, considers how and when they were created, and looks at agreement and disagreement. A primary record is not automatically accurate or unbiased. A copied report does not become a separate witness merely because a different person recopied it.

Foliofox’s exact thresholds are a fictional classroom rubric, not a universal method for deciding historical truth. The records state their provenance explicitly so you can test origin, relevance and copy fidelity.

The complete archive policy

The verdict uses all eligible origins in the dossier, not just your chosen citations. Equivalent faithful copies can represent an origin. Every selected citation must be linked correctly; altered or out-of-scope cards must stay out. Creation dates and event dates serve different roles.
