About Fennel Fortresses

Guide three tiny fortresses through a blocked board in Fennel Fortresses, an original 3D route-and-alignment puzzle. A cheerful hedgehog pathkeeper watches over three concentric square tracks, linked at their side midpoints. Ivory fortresses can move; terracotta towers stay fixed.

Slide one ivory piece along a single connecting lane to an empty adjacent point. Your aim is to bring all three ivory fortresses onto one marked straight track, forming a mill. Corners and blocked junctions make the route matter: an apparently close piece may need to travel around another ring before the line can be completed. Tap a fortress and its destination, or use the numbered move buttons for the currently available routes.

Explore 180 distinct, solver-verified positions in the Outpost, Citadel, and Stronghold campaigns. Later challenges introduce additional fixed blockers and more involved routes. There is no opposing player, capture phase, or timer; this is a focused solo tactics puzzle inspired by mill-board movement. Undo, contextual hints, restart, level selection, and saved progress let you experiment freely. The animated hedgehog, fortress pieces, towers, track markers, and rails are built in Blender and bundled locally. Mouse, touch, keyboard, sound effects, and a mute toggle are supported.

How to Play Fennel Fortresses

  1. Choose a difficulty and position, then press Let’s play.
  2. Tap an ivory fortress to select it, then tap an adjacent empty point connected by a lane.
  3. Alternatively, choose a numbered move button such as 8 → 7. Board points are numbered so you can follow those routes.
  4. Terracotta towers do not move, and occupied points cannot be used as destinations.
  5. Form a marked straight line with all three ivory fortresses to win. Use Undo, Hint, or Restart if a route becomes awkward.
  6. Play with mouse or touch, use Button controls with Tab/Enter, or select actions with arrow keys and Space/Enter. H hints, U undoes, R restarts. Each difficulty contains 60 positions.
