About Fossilgrid: Pixel Dino Nonograms
Grab your pickaxe and join Digby, the hard-hatted mole archaeologist, at the Fossilgrid dig site! Each puzzle is a 3D slab of voxel stone blocks with number clues on wooden signs. Use the clues to work out which blocks hide a fossil, chisel them out and mark the empty rock. When the last clue is solved, the chiseled pixels rise into the air and assemble into a spinning 3D voxel relic: a T-rex skull, an ammonite, a trilobite, a woolly mammoth, a bug in amber and many more.
Fossilgrid has 72 hand-made nonogram puzzles across 24 levels on each of three difficulties. Easy covers 5×5 to 8×8 grids, Medium covers 10×10 and 12×12 with mistake checking and hearts, and Hard covers 15×15 grids with no checking at all. Every puzzle can be solved by logic alone, with no guessing. You can drag to fill whole lines, finished lines cross themselves off, and undo and hints are there when you're stuck. Earn three stars and fill the Fossil Museum with every relic you dig up. It's free to play in your browser on desktop and mobile, with crisp retro pixel art and chiptune sound.
How to Play Fossilgrid: Pixel Dino Nonograms
Goal: Chisel exactly the blocks that hide the fossil. The numbers beside each row and above each column give the lengths of the runs of fossil blocks in that line, in order, with at least one empty block between runs. When every clue is satisfied, the fossil assembles and joins your Museum.
- Desktop: left-click a block to chisel it and right-click to mark it as empty rock (✕). Click and drag to paint a whole row or column. Keyboard: arrow keys or WASD move the cursor, Space chisels, X marks (hold either while moving to paint), Z undoes, H gives a hint and T swaps the tool.
- Mobile: choose Dig or Mark in the bottom toolbar, then tap a block or drag across a line. Undo and Hint are in the toolbar too.
- Helpers: the row and column under your cursor are highlighted. A finished line fills its leftover blocks with ✕ automatically and its numbers turn grey.
- Easy (5×5–8×8): every move is checked and a wrong block costs one of 5 hearts. Medium (10×10–12×12): the same checking with 3 hearts. Hard (15×15): no checking; the fossil appears only when every clue is right.
- Stars: ★★★ for finishing with no mistakes, no hints and a time under par. There are 24 levels on each difficulty, which makes 72 fossils to collect in the Museum.
