RIDGELETCONTOUR CAMPA SURVEY ATLAS OF POSSIBLE TERRAIN

SURVEY 01

Read the lines.
Find a way.

Choose a terrain supported by the survey, then plan a camp and approach trail.

A candidate, not a complete survey.

Evidence leaves room for possibilities. Sparse contours do not uniquely reconstruct a landscape. Any supported terrain with a valid camp and trail can succeed.

A steep line is a route constraint. Grade compares height change with horizontal distance. Total ascent adds only the uphill portions.

WELCOME TO CONTOUR CAMP

A survey is evidence.
A terrain is a hypothesis.

Use the measured contour segments and spot heights to choose a supported terrain. Then select a marked camp and a predefined approach trail that meet every expedition constraint.

  1. 01
    Read the map evidence.

Contours join equal elevations. This atlas uses a 20 m contour interval. The north arrow and distance scale apply to the fictional map.

  2. 02
    Compare terrain candidates.

The 3D panel shows your current hypothesis, not the survey evidence. More than one terrain may fit the partial measurements.

  3. 03
Choose a camp and an approach.

The live ledger checks the camp’s elevation and survey-zone relief, plus trail grade and total ascent. All supported valid plans are accepted.

3 stars: no unsuccessful checks or hints. 2 stars: up to two unsuccessful checks, no hints. 1 star: every completed survey. Undo and reset preserve check and hint history. Best stars save on this device when storage is available.

READING A TOPOGRAPHIC MAP

Every line has
the same height.

A contour connects places of equal elevation. The contour interval gives the height difference between adjacent contour levels. With the same interval and map scale, closely spaced contours indicate a steeper slope.

Ridgelet uses invented piecewise terrain and partial measurements. Unsurveyed areas remain uncertain: the task chooses among a finite bank of candidate landscapes, rather than claiming to recover one unique real surface.

Rules for the camp model

The marked survey zone spans 100 m × 100 m. Its relief is the highest minus lowest surveyed corner elevation, not a tent-pad measure. Fictional route limits omit weather, geology, access rights and many outdoor hazards. This is a map-reading puzzle, not navigation or camping advice.
