WELCOME TO EXPOSURE GALLERY

A little time in the light.
A lifetime to account for.

Plan a day for one display case. Each fictional object needs a stated number of qualifying viewing hours, while its prior plus new light exposure must stay within its invented cumulative limit.

  1. 1
    Select a time slot.

The slot’s duration is fixed. One case can display at most one object during that entire slot.

  2. 2
Choose an object and Low or High light.

Low is 50 lux; High is 100 lux. Choosing an object in a Dark slot starts it at Low. Choosing Low or High from Dark uses the first object, visibly shown in the preview.

  3. 3
    Meet every ledger requirement.

Exposure adds lux × hours to the selected object. Viewing hours count only at or above that object’s stated threshold. Dark displays none, adds zero, and never removes prior exposure.

LIGHT & CUMULATIVE EXPOSURE

Darkness pauses exposure.
It does not undo it.

Illuminance is light falling on a surface, measured in lux. Illuminance multiplied by time gives light exposure, expressed here in lux-hours (lux·h). Collections differ in sensitivity and visibility needs; their history of exposure matters.

Luxotter is an invented planning exercise. Its object limits, viewing thresholds and required hours are fictional teaching values, not universal conservation limits. The preview is symbolic: screen shading is not a calibrated illuminance measurement.

The gallery’s exercise rules

The ledger tracks prior exposure plus proposed new exposure, not an object’s actual condition. It does not simulate damage, reversal, UV, spectrum, humidity or temperature. Dark adds no light exposure in this model; it does not restore an object or reset its total.
